Poultry Expectations Meeting, PQA Update, Foundation Meeting, and Large Animal Pre Fair Check in Dates

Poultry Expectations Meeting
The 4-H Poultry Superintendents will be holding an Expectations Meeting on Tuesday, January 24th starting at 7:00pm. The meeting will be held at the Jackson County MSU Extension office. Topics for this meeting include ordering deadlines, project information and updates for 2017. New members are encouraged to attend this meeting if they plan to bring poultry to the fair. All members are welcome to attend this information session.

Youth PQA
At the end of 2017, Youth Pork Quality Assurance (YPQA) certification programs will be replaced by a similar, multi species program called  Youth for the Quality Care of Animals (YQCA). This year, Jackson County 4-H  members who are planning to bring pigs to fair are only required to be PQA certified. Leaders ask that members have a current certification at the time of pre fair check in (May 6th) We will be offering one face to face PQA session (date TBD) and we will also allow members to take the online class if they would like.

If you plan to show pigs this year and your certification is expired: plan to attend our face to face PQA class. You can also do the online class instead but please note the online option needs to be done prior to the Pre Fair Check in Date (May 6th)

Directions for online Youth PQA certification:
Go to and click on "online training" in the upper right corner. Create a login to proceed to the online class.

If you need the expiration date of your certification, please contact the front desk at the Extension office (517)788-4292 ext 0.

4-H Foundation Meeting

The next 4-H Foundation meeting will be held Tuesday, February 21 at 6:00. The public is welcome to attend this annual general membership meeting. Elections of officers will take place.
